Of course we have fantastic mountain biking trails for outdoor enthusiasts. But if you’re a beginner and you are pining for a gentler route, paved trails offer an ideal starting point. From toddlers on balance bikes to beginners shedding training wheels, here are six local cycling paths perfect for all skill levels.

-Cushman Trail: 6 miles runs North to South in Gig Harbor. For experts, continue your ride down and across the Tacoma Narrows bridge to enjoy spectacular views! 👉

-Chambers Bay Loop Trail: 3.25 miles round trip. You can stay on the top or bottom to avoid hills. Reward their hard work with a playground or beach stroll afterwards! 👉

-Point Defiance Loop Trail: Weaves you through the forest and by amazing views of the Puget Sound. 👉

-Ruston Way Waterfront: This 7 miles round trip flat path takes you along the Commencement Bay waterfront where you will witness breathtaking views of Mount Rainier. 👉

-Waughop Lake Loop: Located at Fort Steilacoom Park there is a flat 4 mile loop around this lake. 👉

-Port Gamble Forest Heritage Park - Located near Poulsbo - A fun trail system with good single track and fun obstacles.  👉

-Clark's Creek Park - Located in Puyallup: It's a multi-use trail system that follows a steep grade up the hill to the top area which has multiple loops to ride.  👉

-Foothills National Recreation Trail: This trail sits atop a historic railroad bed and snakes through the river valley southeast of Tacoma. This 21-mile-long trail is a popular commuter route but you can enjoy shorter, more manageable segments. One of the most scenic sections for the unobstructed views of nearby Mt. Rainier begins in Orting and follows the Carbon River upstream through farmland and forest. 👉
